2026 Decoy Auction

Decoy Auction – July 17, 2026

The 2026 Clayton Decoy & Wildlife Art Show will include an auction of more than 80 lots consisting almost entirely of decoys and related wildlife carving by Ken Harris and Ferguson Decoys, both of Woodville, NY.  The items are from the collection of a former area resident, and most were purchased directly from their respective makers.  The auction is beginning conducted by the Thousand Islands Museum for the family of the original collector, and the Museum will receive a percentage of the proceeds.

The auction will be held on the upper level of the Cerow Recreation Park Arena on Friday, July 17, beginning at 3:00 PM.  Preview of the lots can take place from the opening of the show at 9:00 AM on Friday, until the auction begins.  This will be a live in-person auction, without internet or phone bidding.  There will be no buyer’s premium charged, but 8% sales tax will be added to the final bid amount unless the buyers can show they are tax exempt.  Payment may be made with cash, personal check, or credit card, but there will be an additional 3% fee for using a credit card.  All lots must be removed by the successful bidders by the close of the auction.

Most of the lots were decorative items and remain in very good condition, although some were damaged by pets, rough handling, have a few paint splatters, age checks, knots bleeding through the paint, etc.  Photos and descriptions of the auction lots are provided and attempt to give perspective bidders differing view of items, a rough idea of their estimated value, and to identify any flaws or damage.  However, everyone is encouraged to attend the preview before the start of the auction and make their own evaluations of the various lots.

The auction features a number of unique or unusual items, including a Ken Harris preening drake wood duck, a loon by Ferguson Decoys with a captured perch in its beak, and 17 pairs  (hen and drake) of ducks by Ferguson Decoys representing 17 different species.
