The Festival of Trees is something that we look forward to at the museum every year. Visitors to the museum love to walk through exhibit areas, listening to Christmas carols in the background, as they choose their favorite trees before adding a few names to our Annual Memory Tree.

The museum is now open to the public Tuesday – Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM, giving visitors more opportunities to stop in and see the trees. We will also be Open extended hours on Saturday December 6th so that visitors in Clayton for the Annual Christmas Parade can visit the museum and the Festival of Trees.

In 2025 we are excited to be able to offer more ways than ever to participate in this annual event!

Want to participate the way you always have?

  • Enter a Tree as an individual, business or organization. You provide the tree and the decorations, setting up your tree at the museum during the week of November 7-14th.

All trees must be artificial BUT, your entry doesn’t have to be a tree in the traditional sense. Many of our past winners in the “Most Unique” category don’t even resemble an actual Christmas tree. We encourage you to use your imagination.

Want to participate but don’t have the time or staff to set up at the museum?

  • For a $25.00 donation to the museum our volunteers will decorate your tree for you! All you need to do is bring us your tree and decorations, we will take care of the rest.

Want to participate but don’t have a tree or decorations?

  • For a $50.00 donation to the museum, we will provide a 4 -6 Ft tree and decorations and if needed, volunteers to set it all up! (this opportunity is limited to the first 5 individuals/businesses that wish to use this option)

Other options to support the event and in turn, the museum.

  • Donate a Raffle Basket of items that highlight your business or organization. Raffle tickets are sold throughout the month-long event. Winners are chosen during the Business with a Twist on December 18th.

* All proceeds from the raffles benefit the Thousand Islands Museum

  • Become an event sponsor! For a $100 donation to the museum your name will be featured on all the print and online advertising for the event.  Your business or organization will also be featured in posts on the museum’s social media pages with links to your website.

In addition to promoting the Festival of Trees on social media, the museum distributes flyers to businesses in Clayton for the event. The event is also promoted on WWNY TV 7 during at least one morning and afternoon news cast leading up to the Festival of Trees.
